Wild Dartmoor

I paint the Dartmoor landscape mainly in oils or acrylics with added mixed media embellishments.  My artistic focus extends to the ancient sites that bear witness to the moor's prehistoric past, but also to the more subdued landscapes marked by intricate patterns of hedged or stonewalled fields. These scenes, juxtaposed with the desolate moorland, tumbling rivers, and rocky tors, hold a particular allure for me.

I have explored Dartmoor widely over more than 25 years and have enjoyed understanding the way in which the landscape has been modified by its inhabitants from neolithic/bronze age times to its industrial past. I am a naturalist would be geologist so there is much that appeals to me and I have endeavoured to portray this heritage with my art.
